Classic art nouveau tile with semi-transparent glaze that gives the tile its unique color depth and its fine craquelé - fine cracks in the glaze - which works as a special design element. The craquelé will grow stronger over time as a result of the aging process, just like the original art nouveau tiles. Crackled tiles were popular around the year 1900 throughout Europe. Note that this type of crackled tiles must be sealed both before and after grouting to prevent dirt from getting into the cracks.
