The shoemaker pulley lamp is an example of one of the first functional lamps. This model was first produced around 1880. Since light bulbs at that time were very dim, it was practical to be able to pull the light closer when needed. Karlskrona Lampfabrik had a version of the shoemaker pulley lamp in its first catalog of electric lighting in 1904. Since then, it has remained available in various designs. The model has always been popular but was most commonly used until the 1920s.
