Winckelman's high-quality tiles is just as suitable for the entrance as in the bathroom. A black-and-white tile floor with white octagons and black squares is always a safe bet, but why not venture on any other color combination? In the color chart, you can choose from Winckelman's complete range and combine freely. If you don't find the chosen color in our webshop, we can help you place a special order from our store at Karlavägen 7 in Stockholm or via our customer support. For the entrance in the image lays the classic pattern in white and chocolate brown.
In addition to the color, it is also good to decide how you want the pattern before it is time for the tiler to lay the floor. What will be nicer when it comes to edges and corners? What tile do you want closest to the tile border? How do you fill irregular space outside the tile border? This is often a matter of preference and taste, but it is always a good idea to think things though and communicate with the tiler so that you won't be disappointed when the floor is already complete.
Outside the tile border, we recommend that you add rectangles in contrasting color. Often it gets uniform to choose the same color as the octagons to fill in spaces and get an even frame. These are available in different sizes: 2.5 x 15 cm or 5 x 15 cm, or cut the octagon or a 15 x 15cm (5.91 x 5.91 in.) plate to the desired size. Perhaps you need to place several tiles in width in some places and only one in another. See picture 2.
What tiles to lay closest to the frame on the inside is of course also a matter of taste, but for a consistent pattern, we recommend cutting the octagons rather than cutting the small squares into triangles. See Figures 2 and 3 compared to Figure 4.
In the corners of the frames, you may also need to think about whether you want the small squares to meet and be lay side by side (as in picture 3) or if you prefer a single square in the corner. See picture 2.
