The model for our Börsjö wallpaper dates from 1865-1890. These types of pattern were used for ceilings and walls. This type of ceiling paper started to become popular in Sweden in the 1870s and 1880s.

In around 1800, ceilings in France began to be decorated with paintings and decorative papers. It would take until the late nineteenth century for this development to make itself felt in the Nordic countries, and these designs only took off once the Neo-Renaissance became a popular style. Wallpapers and ceiling papers of this type then began to be printed in vast numbers at all Swedish factories.

It was important that the pattern looked the same when viewed from every direction. Small-scale geometric patterns with rhombuses, small star patterns or four-petaled flowers were popular. The designs were preferably shown on a white or natural background, possibly with gold accents. But the most typical wallpapers of this period were very dark, ideally on a black background.

Paste it directly to the wall. This wallpaper is manufactured using eco-friendly production methods and can be washed using soap and water. The colors you see in product photos may not be exactly the same as the colors of the wallpapers themselves.
