When it comes to tiling, the possibilities are endless. This is an example where we have used several different types of tiles and moldings to create an impressive, well-thought-out look. The inspiration behind the pattern is taken from an old English catalog from the middle of the 19th century.
The sturdy baseboard (visible in image 2) can be compared to a three-part wooden baseboard where the bottom board is complemented by a middle board, which in this case consists of tiles placed on their edge. This is then finished with a decorative molding and a profiled chair rail. Above the base, smooth half-tile panels are arranged in a running bond pattern. For the top, we have chosen to use a smaller chair rail, a half-tile panel meeting a decorative molding, and finishing with a robust chair rail.
The materials in bathrooms can sometimes feel a bit cold and hard - shiny tiles, white porcelain, and strong general lighting that causes the light to bounce doesn't provide for a warm feeling. We recommend a half-tiled bathroom using different shapes and moldings to break up the straight patterns and add both personality and creativity!
