A new porch in an old style has been built for Anna's beautiful villa in Lidingö outside of Stockholm. A classic spruce fence profile was used in the construction.
This is how Anna describes her thoughts on the renovation:
"Our renovation journey began in 2014 when we bought an old house in Lidingö. The more-than-a-hundred-year-old house was really a hopeless case; there were basically no old details left. But we loved the place and Lidingö, a wonderful place for our children to grow up in. And slowly but surely we have restored the house by replacing doors, windows, floors, moldings, etc. to more contemporary alternatives. I prefer everything to be old original parts, but when it is not possible, it is wonderful that it is possible to buy newly made stuff in the old style.
When we built our porch, for example, an important detail for me was to find a newly made porch railing that was both beautiful and contemporary. The goal was that it would look as if the porch was built around the turn of the last century instead of 120 years later. The porch railing should also be properly decorated, i.e., not too much or too plain. So it took quite a long time to find the perfect porch railing, but in the end we found it at Sekelskifte. The railing is called Snickarglädje nr 135, and I am so happy with the end result."
