Villa Lyran was a summer villa and party place as early as the 1870s. The house was built by the couple Limnell who gladly invited celebrities of their time to parties. During the summers at the end of the 19th century, the home became a much-appreciated and widely renowned literary and musical salon, where cultural figures were seen. Visitors include names such as Selma Lagerlöf, Jenny Lind, Carl David af Wirsén and Henrik Ibsen. King Oscar II also visited the house twice and expressed his great affection.
Inside, the house is still very similar since that time with wood paneling, stucco and the beautifully sculpted fireplace in the large room.Outside, take a walk on the porch along the waterfront of the house and look carefully at the magnificent leaf-cutting details as well as the famous view tower with magical views of Lake Mälaren.
The villa which is located between Mälarhöjden and Bredäng in Stockholm can still be rented today for parties, weddings, etc. or just a cup of coffee.
