Facts & Inspo - Oxidize brass

Most of our brass products are polished, but otherwise untreated. This means the shiny surface will age naturally in contact with oxygen and moisture. Over time, it will take on a deeper tone with a matte finish. If you want to speed up the oxidation process, we recommend the egg method:

- Boil one or two eggs (depending on the size of the object you want to oxidize). For the candlestick above, we will use two eggs.

- Once they are hard-boiled, peel the eggs while they are still warm and cut them into pieces.

- Place the eggs and the object in a plastic bag, then seal. Let oxidize for a couple of hours, then check the result.

If you want a darker tone, simply repeat the process until you're satisfied!
